What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi Qong is an form of exercise that originated in ancient China and has been called ‘meditation in motion’.  This gentle group activity combines deep breathing and relaxation with slow and gentle movements to promote health and reduce stress.uses a  which helps with stress relief, poor circulation, joint problems and respiratory disorders. It also helps improve body alignment and balance. Suitable for Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Our Tai Chi class is an exercise referral class that is open to the public.

What will it do for me?

Tais Chi is great for stress relief, poor circulation, join problems and respiratory disorders.  It is also a good way to help improve body alignment and balance.  Tai Chi is suitable for those undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Is it right for me?

Tai Chi is a safe and gentle form of that is great for everyone aged 16 and over and all fitness levels.  It is a great way for anyone who may be older or inactive to gently raise activity levels.

However, if you have an ongoing medical condition or injury you should consult with your GP or medical practitioner before beginning a new exercise programme.

What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable, flexible clothes that let you move easily.  Avoid very baggy clothes and bear in mind you may get warm.  Some people prefer to practice Tai Chi barefoot – but if you wear shoes they should be light, comfortable and flexible.

What else should I bring?

You don’t need to bring any equipment – just a water bottle to stay hydrated and a towel if you wish.

Tai Chi classes are available at our Nova Prestatyn centre.
